Compensation
Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range:
$230,000 - $285,000 annually
Part-time compensation will be prorated based on FTE level.
Compensation is based on:
- Board certification
- Relevant experience
- Geriatric and primary care expertise
- Internal equity considerations
Role Overview
The Market Medical Director serves as the supervising and collaborating physician for Pine Park Health's clinical teams, helping ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care across senior living communities throughout the Bay Area.
This role combines clinical leadership, provider oversight, quality management, and stakeholder engagement while supporting the organization's value-based care model.
The position offers an opportunity to influence care delivery at scale without maintaining a traditional full patient panel.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Oversight
- Provide physician supervision for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants
- Establish and maintain clinical standards and care protocols
- Ensure alignment between clinical quality goals and business objectives
- Support consistent, evidence-based care delivery across communities
Provider Support & Development
- Serve as a clinical resource and advisor for provider teams
- Conduct case reviews and clinical consultations
- Provide mentorship and professional development support
- Perform chart reviews and clinical shadowing activities
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build relationships with:
- Referring physicians
- Specialists
- Health plan medical directors
- Senior living communities
- Represent Pine Park Health in community and healthcare partner interactions
- Support educational initiatives and outreach efforts
Quality & Utilization Management
- Participate in quarterly utilization reviews
- Analyze care trends and opportunities for improvement
- Develop strategies to improve outcomes and efficiency
- Support cost-effective, high-quality care delivery
Clinical Coverage
- Provide occasional clinical coverage during provider absences
- Support continuity of care when necessary
- Assist with complex patient management situations
Required Qualifications
Medical Credentials
- MD or DO degree
- Active medical licensure
- Board certification in:
- Internal Medicine
- Family Medicine
- Emergency Medicine
Preferred Qualifications
- Geriatrics experience
- Palliative care experience
- Value-based care experience
Clinical Expertise
Strong understanding of:
- Medicare populations
- Risk adjustment and RAF capture
- Preventive care strategies
- Chronic disease management
- Reducing avoidable hospitalizations
- Care coordination and specialist utilization
Technical Skills
- Comfortable with technology-enabled care delivery
- Strong clinical documentation skills
- Ability to utilize data-driven healthcare tools
- Proficiency with electronic clinical systems
