Contract: Permanent
Hours: Part-Time (0.5 to 0.8 FTE basis, equivalent to 18.75 to 30 hours per week)
Salary: £70,000 per annum, pro rata
Location: Remote organization with regular in-person meetings required in London
The Sentencing Academy was established in 2019 and focuses on promoting evidence-based sentencing practices while improving public understanding of sentencing among professionals and the public.
The organization is entering a new phase focused on long-term sustainability, organizational growth, and expanding its funding base.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will oversee the strategic direction of the charity and lead its next phase of development.
The role is responsible for supporting organizational sustainability, promoting evidence-based approaches to sentencing, reducing re-offending, supporting justice for victims, and improving public confidence in sentencing practices.
This leadership position includes responsibility for:
Strategic planning and organizational development
Operational compliance and governance
Financial sustainability and funding growth
Relationship management with stakeholders and partners
Public representation and media engagement
The organization’s 2026/27 budget is fully funded; however, the CEO will play a key role in broadening future funding sources through grants and partnerships.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced nonprofit leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills and an interest in sentencing and the wider criminal justice system.

Strategic planning
Governance
Financial management
Grant funding and partnership development
Team leadership and organizational management
Stakeholder and public engagement
Media representation
Analytical problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
