Role Overview
The Founding Scientific Advisory Chair serves as the senior scientific advisor to the Foundation and provides strategic scientific leadership across its research initiatives.
This role focuses on helping shape scientific direction, strengthening research credibility, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and expanding relationships with universities, research institutions, foundations, and scientific networks.
The Chair will work closely with Foundation leadership and the Board to guide research priorities and support the development of impactful scientific programs.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Strategy & Research Leadership
- Advise on scientific strategy and long-term research priorities
- Help shape the Foundation's research agenda and development roadmap
- Support the advancement of interdisciplinary scientific initiatives
- Provide guidance on emerging research opportunities and trends
Research Governance & Scientific Review
- Review research proposals, methodologies, and scientific outputs
- Evaluate scientific rigor and methodological quality
- Provide independent scientific guidance and recommendations
- Support research quality and integrity standards
Academic & Institutional Partnerships
- Support the development of relationships with:
- Universities
- Research institutes
- Scientific networks
- Foundations
- Academic collaborators
- Help establish interdisciplinary research partnerships
- Identify opportunities for collaborative research initiatives
Research Program Development
Support the growth and development of initiatives related to:
- Complex Systems
- Systems Science

Thought Leadership
- Contribute to scientific publications and working papers
- Support fellowship and research programs

- Provide independent scientific advice to Foundation leadership
- Support strategic decision-making related to research investments
- Advise on scientific opportunities, risks, and priorities

Required Qualifications
Education
- PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field

Recognized expertise in one or more of the following areas:
