The Role
The Vice President of Quality Transformation is a senior enterprise executive responsible for transforming the organisation's quality management systems, operating processes, governance models and quality capabilities to support sustainable business performance and growth.
The role will develop and execute the enterprise quality transformation strategy, integrating digital technologies, data analytics, automation, AI-enabled quality management, operational excellence and continuous improvement into the organisation's quality operating model.
The VP will partner with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to strengthen quality performance, reduce operational risk, improve customer outcomes and create measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Transformation Strategy
- Develop and execute the enterprise-wide quality transformation strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
- Assess existing quality systems, processes, organisational capabilities and performance to identify transformation opportunities.
- Establish a scalable quality operating model across business units, products, services and geographic regions.
- Define transformation roadmaps, priorities, milestones, investment requirements and performance targets.
Quality Management Systems
- Lead modernisation and standardisation of enterprise Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Strengthen quality policies, procedures, standards, controls and governance frameworks.
- Integrate quality management into product development, manufacturing, supply chain, service delivery and customer operations.
- Establish consistent quality standards across global and regional organisations.
Digital Quality & Technology
- Lead digital transformation of quality processes, systems and workflows.
- Deploy advanced analytics, automation, AI, predictive quality and digital quality platforms.
- Improve real-time visibility into quality performance, defects, risks and operational trends.
- Partner with Technology and Digital Transformation teams to integrate quality data across enterprise platforms.
AI, Automation & Predictive Quality
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and machine learning to quality monitoring, risk prediction, root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Implement intelligent automation to reduce manual quality processes and improve execution consistency.
- Develop predictive quality capabilities to identify potential failures before they affect customers or operations.
- Establish responsible governance for AI-enabled quality decision support.
Operational Excellence
- Integrate quality transformation with Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement and operational excellence programmes.
- Identify opportunities to reduce defects, waste, rework, cycle time and operational costs.
- Establish enterprise methodologies for root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive action and process improvement.
- Drive measurable improvements in productivity, reliability, cost and customer satisfaction.
Customer & Product Quality
- Strengthen customer-focused quality management across the full product and service lifecycle.
- Establish mechanisms for analysing customer complaints, quality feedback, warranty data and service performance.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Customer Experience teams to improve quality outcomes.
- Develop proactive quality strategies that strengthen customer trust and brand reputation.
Supplier & Supply Chain Quality
- Strengthen supplier quality management, qualification, performance monitoring and risk assessment.
- Integrate supplier quality data into enterprise quality analytics and risk-management systems.
- Establish improvement programmes for strategic suppliers and critical supply networks.
- Partner with Procurement and Supply Chain leadership to improve supplier reliability and quality economics.
Risk, Compliance & Governance
- Establish quality governance frameworks, controls and escalation mechanisms.
- Ensure transformation initiatives align with applicable regulatory, industry and corporate standards.
- Identify emerging quality risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
- Provide executive leadership with transparent reporting on enterprise quality risks and transformation performance.
Quality Performance & Value Creation
- Establish enterprise quality KPIs, dashboards and performance-management frameworks.
- Measure transformation impact through defect reduction, cost of quality, productivity, customer outcomes and risk reduction.
- Develop business cases and ROI models for major quality transformation investments.
- Demonstrate measurable financial and operational value from quality transformation initiatives.
Organisational Transformation
- Build quality transformation capabilities across business units and regions.
- Lead organisational change, workforce capability development and adoption of new quality technologies and processes.
- Develop quality leadership pipelines and transformation expertise.
- Promote a culture of prevention, accountability, data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
Executive Leadership
- Partner with the CEO, COO, Chief Quality Officer, CTO, CIO and other senior executives on enterprise quality priorities.
- Present quality transformation strategy, risks, investment requirements and performance to executive leadership and the Board when appropriate.
- Lead cross-functional transformation programmes spanning Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Technology, Product, Finance and Customer Experience.
- Represent the organisation with strategic partners, industry organisations and key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Operations, Manufacturing, Business or a related discipline.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in quality management, operational excellence, manufacturing, engineering, transformation or enterprise operations.
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale quality transformation or enterprise improvement programmes.
- Strong knowledge of QMS frameworks, Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, quality governance and operational excellence.
- Experience with digital quality platforms, analytics, automation, AI or enterprise technology transformation.
- Proven ability to lead global, cross-functional teams and complex transformation portfolios.
- Strong financial and business acumen, including ROI analysis and value-creation measurement.
- Excellent executive communication, change leadership and stakeholder-management capabilities.
