About the Company
We’re working with a growing, privately owned property-focused lending business looking to appoint an experienced Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) on a part-time basis.
The business has an established financial crime framework and is looking for someone who can take ownership of the MLRO function, strengthen existing processes, and ensure its policies remain proportionate and aligned with how the business operates.
The Role
This is a relationship-led and fast-paced environment requiring someone who is pragmatic, commercially minded, and comfortable applying risk-based judgement.
The MLRO will take ownership of the financial crime function, with particular focus on nuanced Source of Funds and Source of Wealth scenarios and maintaining an effective AML framework.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Crime & AML
- Take ownership of the MLRO function.
- Strengthen existing financial crime processes and controls.
- Ensure policies remain proportionate and aligned with the business.
- Apply risk-based judgement to complex Source of Funds and Source of Wealth scenarios.
- Maintain compliance with relevant AML/CDD requirements and FCA expectations.
Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with Relationship Managers in a smaller, entrepreneurial business.
- Provide pragmatic and commercially aware guidance on financial crime risk.
Qualifications
- Currently or previously registered as an MLRO within lending or financial services.
- Strong understanding of AML/CDD requirements and relevant FCA expectations.
- A pragmatic and commercially aware approach to financial crime risk.
- Comfortable operating within a smaller, entrepreneurial business.
- Comfortable working closely with Relationship Managers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Property lending experience is highly desirable.
Compensation
£80,000–£100,000 FTE, pro rata
Work Arrangement
- Predominantly remote.
- Open to candidates anywhere in the UK.
- Expected attendance at the London office approximately once a month.
