Ronald McDonald House Charities UK is the UK’s leading provider of accommodation and support services for families with seriously ill children receiving hospital care.
The charity operates a network of 14 Houses across the UK, supporting approximately 530 families each night by providing accommodation, emotional support, and practical assistance near children’s hospitals.
The organization is focused on expanding both its accommodation capacity and family support services over the next five years while strengthening long-term financial sustainability and diversifying income sources.
The Trustee – Finance & Investments will join the Board of Trustees to provide strategic financial oversight, governance support, and investment stewardship during a significant phase of organizational growth and expansion.
This role is focused on supporting the charity’s financial sustainability, investment strategy, reserves management, and long-term financial resilience while contributing independent oversight and constructive challenge at Board level.
The Trustee will help guide financial decision-making as the charity works toward growing annual income beyond £20 million while reducing reliance on any single funding source.
Provide strategic oversight on financial sustainability and long-term organizational resilience.
Contribute expertise related to reserves management, investment strategy, and financial stewardship.
Support governance, financial controls, and risk oversight at Board level.
Provide constructive challenge and independent perspective on financial planning and strategic decisions.
Help guide the charity through growth, expansion, and income diversification initiatives.
Participate in Board discussions, governance activities, and long-term organizational planning.
Support the charity’s mission of improving support services for families with seriously ill children.
Strong senior-level finance experience.
Knowledge of investments, reserves management, and financial strategy.
Experience contributing to governance, financial oversight, or Board-level decision-making.
Ability to provide independent challenge and strategic perspective.
Strong alignment with mission-driven and values-based organizations.
Interest in supporting families navigating serious childhood illness.
