About the Role

IDEA is seeking a part-time Executive Director to lead the organization through its next phase of development.

This remote role reports directly to the Board of Directors and will focus on conducting a high-level assessment of the organization’s financial health while helping design and execute a long-term strategic plan.

The Executive Director will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, board leadership, staff, and committees to ensure IDEA remains a valuable resource for its global membership community.

Compensation is equivalent to an annualized salary range of $40,000 to $45,000.

Responsibilities

You will collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer to evaluate the financial condition of the organization, identify creative solutions, and present recommendations to the Executive Board and Governing Board.

The role includes executing approved plans that strengthen sustainability and future growth.

You will oversee key administrative and operational duties including weekly staff meetings, payroll approval, annual budgeting, and financial management.

You will work with board presidents to prepare agendas and lead monthly Executive Board meetings, coordinate quarterly Governing Board meetings, organize board elections, and support committee chairs.

You will maintain current partnerships while developing new external relationships and serving as liaison for chapter events.

The role also includes working with committees to develop new professional development offerings, supporting annual conference planning for IDEAcon, writing email communications, and collaborating on branded graphics and marketing materials.

Requirements

Candidates should hold a master’s degree and have at least five years of leadership, management, or supervisory experience.

You should have experience in K-12 education and a strong understanding of educational technology.

Applicants must have experience building or expanding professional communities and knowledge of adult learning principles.

Strong strategic thinking, organizational leadership, budgeting, financial management, and board collaboration experience are required.

Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills are essential.

Candidates should be adaptable, mission-driven, self-directed, collaborative, and capable of leading diverse teams and stakeholders.

Strong problem-solving skills, multitasking ability, and energy for organizational leadership are highly valued.
