About the Company

A privately held alternative investment firm is seeking two experienced Interim Controllers to support its finance organization during a significant business transition. The firm manages institutional investment capital and requires seasoned accounting leaders to maintain financial operations, investor reporting, and accounting functions throughout the engagement.

The Role

The Interim Controller will provide executive accounting leadership for either the firm's Management Company or its investment fund entities, depending on experience. This role is responsible for maintaining financial operations, overseeing reporting activities, supporting investor capital transactions, and ensuring audit readiness during a four- to six-month transition period.

Working closely with executive leadership and external partners, the successful candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, operational continuity, and compliance throughout the engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

• Lead accounting activities for either the Management Company or investment fund entities.
• Oversee monthly close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Oversee financial reporting throughout the engagement.
• Support audit preparation, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure accounting activities remain compliant with applicable standards.
• Maintain audit readiness during the transition.

Investment & Capital Management

• Support investor capital transactions and related accounting activities.
• Manage accounting activities within a hedge fund and investment management environment.
• Support fund transition activities while maintaining accurate financial reporting.

Executive Collaboration

• Partner with executive leadership and external service providers to ensure operational continuity.
• Support the successful completion of the business transition within the engagement timeline.

Qualifications

• Recent hedge fund accounting experience.
• Previous experience as an Interim Controller, Fund Controller, Corporate Controller, or similar accounting leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of fund accounting and investment management accounting.
• Experience supporting investor capital activity, financial reporting, and audit processes.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and month-end close experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal onboarding.
• Available to begin within the next two weeks.
• Able to work Eastern Time business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA certification.
• Public accounting experience.
• Experience supporting fund wind-downs, liquidations, or other complex investment lifecycle events.

Compensation

• $100–$135 per hour

Time Commitment

• Approximately 4–6 months
• Interim consulting engagement
