Food Impact Partners is working with an organization developing sustainable, high-performance designer fats for food and personal care applications through precision fermentation.
The company has built a proprietary microbial lipid platform, validated initial products, established pilot-scale production, and filed multiple patent families.
With early commercial traction and active global customer discussions underway, the business is now transitioning from science-led development to commercial scale-up.
The company is seeking an Independent Board Director with potential to transition into Chair of the Board once the relationship is established.
This role is focused on helping accelerate the company’s move from early product launch to meaningful commercial scale.
The selected leader will strengthen commercial execution at board level, support scale-up strategy, guide governance, and act as a strategic advisor to leadership during a critical growth phase.
You will challenge and refine commercial strategy across segmentation, positioning, pricing, and market prioritization.
The role includes advising on growth from initial commercial volumes to industrial-scale production.
You will support decisions around contract manufacturing partnerships versus long-term owned asset strategies.
You will help structure strategic production partnerships, supply agreements, and offtake arrangements.
You will open doors to relevant brands, distributors, ingredient companies, and commercial partners.
You will advise leadership on scaling from first sales to multi-thousand-tonne production volumes.
You will strengthen governance processes, improve board effectiveness, and provide trusted counsel to the CEO on investor relations and scaling decisions.
Candidates should have at least 15 years of senior leadership experience within B2B ingredients, food, personal care, fats and oils, or specialty chemicals sectors.
You should have a proven track record launching and scaling new ingredient products globally.
Applicants must understand large B2B procurement processes and long enterprise sales cycles.
Experience scaling products from pilot phase to industrial volumes is essential.
Exposure to industrial manufacturing models and strategic production partnerships is highly valuable.
Deep expertise in fats, oils, specialty lipids, or adjacent markets is strongly preferred.
Prior board experience is required, and previous Chair experience is preferred though not mandatory.
A strong network across brands, distributors, and production partners, particularly in Europe or North America, is advantageous.
Europe-based candidates are strongly preferred.
This is a high-impact board opportunity with potential progression to Chair of the Board.
You will help guide a venture at the intersection of sustainability, food innovation, and advanced manufacturing.
The role offers strategic influence during a critical commercialization stage with the opportunity to shape growth, partnerships, governance, and long-term value creation.
