About Level Workforce, LLC

Level Workforce is a consulting and workforce solutions agency that supports companies within the construction, real estate, and finance industries. The organisation helps business owners build and optimise their operations through strategic advisory, operational systems, and practical execution.

The company supports both internal initiatives and client-facing engagements, operating in fast-moving environments where clarity, professionalism, and execution are essential.

Position Overview

The Director of Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing financial strategy, accounting operations, and financial advisory services across the organisation and its client engagements.

As a member of the executive leadership team, the Director of Finance will help develop scalable financial systems that support the continued growth of the company within construction, real estate, and field services industries.

The role combines internal financial leadership with external advisory responsibilities. The successful candidate will oversee the firm’s accounting operations while also supporting client engagements that require financial operational assessments, advisory guidance, and supplemental financial leadership.

The Director of Finance will provide strategic oversight to the accounting team, mentor internal staff, and help improve financial discipline, reporting clarity, and operational decision-making across the organisation.

This is a fractional executive leadership role designed for an experienced finance professional seeking a flexible, part-time position in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

The Director of Finance will serve as a key member of the leadership team, advising executives on financial strategy, operational performance, and profitability. The role will lead financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities while ensuring leadership has access to clear financial dashboards and reporting systems that support decision-making.

Financial modelling, margin analysis, and performance tracking will play an important role in supporting strategic planning and operational improvement. The position will also assess the financial needs of clients and translate those requirements into structured execution plans for the accounting team.

Internally, the role will oversee the company’s accounting operations including bookkeeping processes, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. The Director of Finance will lead the recruitment, training, and development of internal accounting staff while ensuring that financial controls, reporting standards, and operational processes support sustainable business growth.

The role will also drive the implementation of automation and AI-enabled workflows designed to improve reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and scalability across financial processes.

Leadership and mentorship are key aspects of the role. The Director of Finance will guide the accounting team to improve financial accuracy, reporting discipline, operational accountability, and client engagement capabilities. This includes establishing clear workflows, performance expectations, and development opportunities for team members.

The position also includes a strong advisory component. The Director of Finance will conduct financial operational assessments for Level Workforce clients, particularly those operating in construction and related industries. Advisory support will focus on improving financial structure, strengthening reporting processes, enhancing job costing systems, and increasing profitability.

The role may also involve providing interim or fractional financial leadership for client organisations that require additional financial oversight or operational support. This may include developing financial reporting frameworks, supporting work-in-progress and job cost reporting, improving margins, and implementing financial systems and operational processes.

The Director of Finance will also evaluate and improve accounting workflows, financial reporting systems, and data visibility across the organisation. The role may support the implementation or optimisation of accounting platforms, reporting dashboards, and project-based financial reporting tools, while integrating automation and AI-based solutions where appropriate.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess more than ten years of progressive finance leadership experience, ideally within construction, general contracting, trades, or field services sectors.

Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles is required, including experience with work-in-progress schedules, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, job costing, and project-based financial reporting.

Applicants should demonstrate experience supporting owner-operated businesses or growing mid-sized construction companies and possess strong expertise in financial modelling, budgeting, reporting dashboards, and industry-relevant financial software.

The role requires familiarity with modern accounting platforms and financial reporting tools, as well as experience using automation and AI-enabled systems to improve financial processes and operational efficiency.

Strong communication skills are essential, particularly the ability to translate complex financial data into clear and actionable insights for business leaders and operational teams.

Candidates should also possess an operational mindset and feel comfortable partnering with executives, project managers, and client leadership teams to support business performance and financial clarity.

Engagement Structure

This role is structured as a fractional executive leadership engagement. The hours, scope, and deliverables may evolve based on the organisation’s needs and may include ongoing financial leadership, executive advisory services, mentorship of the accounting team, and implementation of financial systems.

The engagement may also involve financial restructuring initiatives, operational financial management, profitability analysis, and growth strategy support for the organisation and its clients.

Additional project-based initiatives may include financial infrastructure development, reporting system improvements, and broader operational financial management initiatives.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned finance leader, fractional CFO, or former finance executive who enjoys working within entrepreneurial environments and supporting growing businesses in construction-related sectors.

Successful candidates typically value flexible work structures, high-impact strategic work, mentoring developing teams, solving operational financial challenges, and helping construction companies grow with stronger financial discipline and operational clarity.
