The Role
The Chief Financial Officer will oversee the firm's financial strategy, planning, reporting, and performance in a part-time capacity.
The role will work closely with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making, assess business initiatives, optimize capital allocation, and manage financial risk. The CFO will also oversee financial controls, regulatory compliance, external audit and tax relationships, and the continued improvement of financial systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Develop financial models, scenario analyses, and long-term financial plans.
- Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis.
- Assess business initiatives and optimize capital allocation.
- Monitor cash flow and overall financial performance.
Financial Reporting & Controls
- Oversee financial reporting and analysis.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
- Prepare regulatory, management, and investor-facing reports.
- Maintain effective financial controls and reporting processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
Audit, Tax & Risk Management
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Support financial risk management initiatives.
- Monitor regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to the firm's operations.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen financial processes and controls.
Finance Team Leadership
- Mentor finance team members.
- Refine financial processes and systems to support continued growth.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and other stakeholders across the organization.
Qualifications
- Strong finance and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide strategic recommendations.
- Expertise in financial planning and budgeting, including forecasting, scenario analysis, and long-term financial modeling.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
- Hands-on experience with financial reporting, including regulatory, management, and investor-facing reporting.
- Proven leadership experience in a senior finance role, preferably as a CFO or equivalent within financial services or a related industry.
- Advanced proficiency with financial systems, spreadsheets, and analytics tools.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, part-time environment across multiple stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- CPA certification.
- CFA designation.
- Familiarity with trading or investment platforms.
