Binary Stream is seeking an experienced Vice President of People and Culture to join the leadership team and guide the next phase of the company’s employee experience and organizational development.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the role is responsible for shaping and leading the evolution of the organization’s people strategy, culture, programs, and systems to support a growing and globally distributed workforce.
The Vice President will lead the People and Culture team of six across Canada and India, providing leadership, coaching, and accountability for the successful execution of people initiatives and programs.
This position requires deep expertise in scaling people programs, aligning people initiatives with business objectives, fostering leadership alignment, and maintaining a strong values-driven culture.
Promote and strengthen a values-driven culture across global teams to improve engagement, connection, and retention.
Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team to align the company’s people strategy with long-term business objectives.
Provide strategic guidance on organizational design, change management, and cultural alignment as the company scales.
Enhance the employee experience through structured feedback mechanisms, benchmarking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead and optimize core People and Culture systems including performance management, goal setting, and feedback processes.
Evaluate and maintain competitive total rewards programs including compensation benchmarking, benefits strategies, and engagement metrics.
Develop and maintain policies and operational frameworks that support consistency and align with company values.
Implement scalable, technology-enabled people processes that improve operational effectiveness and performance management.
Support managers with the tools, training, and resources needed to build high-performing teams.
Partner with senior leaders on compensation decisions, performance management, and team dynamics by providing structured frameworks and guidance.
Lead succession planning and key talent retention initiatives with proactive and strategic approaches.
Provide guidance on workforce planning, role design, and organizational modeling to support sustainable growth.
Oversee employer branding, candidate experience, and hiring practices to attract high-quality talent and maintain a strong recruitment process.
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in People and Culture or human resources roles, including senior leadership or executive positions.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. Advanced education such as an MBA or relevant leadership or business certifications is preferred.
Experience working in technology or SaaS organizations, particularly within companies scaling beyond 100 employees.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing people strategies aligned with business objectives across performance management, total rewards, and leadership development.
Strong expertise in organizational design, workforce planning, and talent strategy.
Experience advising executive leadership and handling complex people-related matters with sound judgment and discretion.
Familiarity with HRIS platforms, applicant tracking systems, engagement surveys, and people analytics tools.
Strong business acumen with the ability to balance strategic leadership with practical execution.
This role may be structured as either a part-time employee position or a fractional engagement.
The company’s priority is identifying the right long-term executive leader and is flexible on the engagement structure. Final engagement terms will depend on the selected candidate. Fractional engagements are typically structured through an annual contract.
Binary Stream benchmarks compensation annually against Canada’s technology sector to ensure competitive salary ranges.
The compensation details below apply to employee engagements. Compensation for fractional engagements is structured separately through an annual contract.
Base salary hiring range is between $155,000 and $198,000 CAD annually.
This range reflects a full-time equivalent role and will be prorated for a 24-hour work week. Final compensation is determined based on experience, skills, and the value the candidate brings. In exceptional circumstances, compensation above this range may be considered.
Eligibility for a prorated annual performance-based bonus tied to company performance and the individual’s impact in the role.
